Visiting Nana & Papa Stewart

On our way back from Waterton we stopped to visit Nana & Papa Stewart place for an over nighter. Lincoln and Lacey had so much fun with Papa in the garden. We also got to go swimming at the Cardston pool, we love the lazy river.

Waterton 2017

We got home from Dinosaur Park on Sunday night. Unpacked, did laundry, got groceries and repacked. Monday we were off to Waterton Springs campground just 5 mins outside of Waterton Park. I have never been to Waterton in the week before. I loved it! It was not a busy as it usually it. The weather was perfect and not windy. We had a fun 4 days exploring.

Our kiddos love camping, so they were excited to hear that we would be camping for our second week off.

... And you can't go to Waterton without getting ice cream. We actually tried a new ice-cream shop as the other one is so expensive and busy. Glad we did as they had Hawaiian shaved ice, that Lincoln and Lace loved. Oliver was a big fan of the ice cream.

We had fun hiking bears hump again! We even got to see a bear 20 feet in front of us. Which was pretty neat/scary. He was just wondering on the path towards us, minding his own business. So we slowly turned around and headed the other way. After a while he wondered off the path into the bushes. Lincoln said it was scarier seeing a bear then he thought it would be.

Dinosaur Provincial Park

This was the first time we have ever had 2 week holidays as a family together. We were pretty excited! We were all so ready for some family time and more summer adventures.  For our first week off, we went to Dinosaur Provincial Park for some camping. Dinosaur Provincial Park is located in the middle of no where (48 kms NE of Brooks) or that's what it felt like. The park is well known for being one of the richest dinosaurs fossil locations in the world. Forty dinosaur species have been discovered at the park and more than 500 specimens have been removed and exhibited in museums around the globe.

The park is also located in the badlands. Years ago Native Americans and other travellers found it was a horrible place to travel through because of the sandy soil that would constantly wash away. The Native Americas also believed that anything with a shadow has a spirit; so they believed that the hoodoos were rock giants that would sleep during the day and when night arrived they would search for travellers to devour.  

We choose this camping spot as this is somewhere Josh use to camp when he was little and was excited to relive his childhood with his own kids... I know I was more then ready to slow life down a bit and enjoy our family time. Summer has been so busy with the day home... We had so much fun camping! Lincoln said it was like were in the dinosaur times.


Our week at Dinosaur park was HOT!!! Each day it got to the high 30's. Well actually hotter. The weather forcast was for Patricia, which is a small town near Dinosaur park. But as soon as you when down into the valley where we stayed the temps went up to 40-45'c. We spent our mornings exploring the badlands...


... And in the afternoon we tried to stay cool in the stream and river.

One day we made our way to Drumheller to go visit Royal Tyrrell Museum.
It was so much fun! Learning about dinosaurs and seeing all the dinosaur fossils.

 The park had different classes and tours they offer. Lincoln took part in a 'dinosaur cast from the past'. Where he learned about real fossil and casts. He also got to make a few casts. He loved it and it was helpful for when we went to the Tyrrell museum because he could tell the difference. We also took some bus tours that took us out to some fossil beds, which was pretty neat.

We had a such a fun week exploring!

Magrath Days

Magrath Days was a great weekend! We started it off with a parade, then a Harker family gathering at Nana & Papa Harker's house. It was great to visit with everyone.

On The Move

Oliver is on the MOVE!!! It's the cutest thing in the world, to see him figure out how to move his body even though he has some physical limitations. I love how determined he is. This a huge milestone for Oliver. 

Big Bed!!!

Oliver is loving his big bed! We got this bunk bed so that it could be a accessible bunk bed for Oliver. I would like to teach Oliver as much independence as possible even though he has physical limitations. Lincoln was a bit sad to pass on his car bed, but he's pretty excited to have a bunk bed to share with Oliver.

18 month Myelo Clinic

Oliver had his Myelo clinic on Monday. He has been doing so well that we haven't been to Calgary for his specialist appointments since January. It has been so nice for his appointments to be slowing down. Josh took Oliver up this time since I have my Day Home to look over. It's been so nice that Josh has been able to help so much with Oliver's appointments. Everything went great on Monday and all the specialists are pleased with what they see. Our main focus is still physiotherapy now and getting as much movement as possible.

Myelo clinic is a great opportunity to meet up with our Spina Bifida friends that we have met over the last two years. This is Oliver's Spina Bifida buddy Brooklyn! They have both grown so much in the last 6 months!
