Lincoln's Birthday Day

We actually had Lincoln's big birthday party with his friends 3 days after his actual birthday. These are some picture on the day of his actual birthday, May 29th. It was a fun busy day. We started the morning by going to the airport to see the airplanes come in and fly out. 

Then we headed to the park. There's 2 parks on the island. One park is called the terminal park and there's another one close to the airport that we went to. Parks here just aren't the same as back home. You get super dirty in no time, But this park isnt as bad as the terminal park. When your done playing  it looks as if I'm taking a homeless child with me for how dirty they are. Dark dirty feet, legs, arms hands and face, but t's all worth it if the kids had fun! They don't take care of there parks here maintenance wise. If it's broken they don't fix it even if it's fixable.

In the afternoon we headed to the beach. The kids love going to the beach. They are usually covered from heat to toe with sand by the time we need to leave. Lincoln wasn't to sure with the water when we first got here. The waves scared him. It's taken over a month and he now likes to go into the water with his puddle-jumper. He is still very cautious with the waves that rolling into the beach. Lincoln loves building sand castles that collect water, so he can play in it. Lacey's favorite thing to do is destroy Lincoln's sand castles. She already know how to be a sister and annoy her brother. :)

For Lincoln's Birthday Dinner he requested noodles from Cool Corner (the Chinese restaurant). When he says noodle, he means beef chew mien. He loves the noodle and broccoli in the chew mien. We ordered some dishes and took in over to the Fort (about a block away). He was pretty excited!

It was a great day! 

Statia Family/ Church Group

We have been truly blessing to have a church group here on the island. They have played a huge part in helping us adjust so well to Statia life. You may ask why there isn't a ward or branch, as I did too. It's because there are no local members here, the members who are here are here for school.  So a church group it is. Our church group is made up of 24 of us (at the moment) including our family. They are our "Statia family" since we have no relatives here and we love them all.

No local members = no church building. We are considers a school religious church group club, so we are allowed to meet at the school in one of the class rooms for 1.5 hours each sunday. So thats how long our church is. We have a short sacrament meeting, followed by sunday school. We have an activity once a month where us ladies can get together and have fun while learning more about the gospel. Since there are so few of us. We all have callings to help make things run smoothly. At the moment I am in nursery with Claire Sala and Josh is a sunday school teacher with a few other people. I love our church group! We know everyone and we are all so close. We couldn't of done this with out our church group. Thanks guys!

The many faces of Lacey

Normally I wouldn't dedicate a whole post to a funny face, but lately Lacey has developed a new facial expression. I always think its pretty neat when they start to figure out how their body works. I like to catch those little moments. She scrunches her nose at people all the time lately, it kinda makes her looked ticked off at something. But it is pretty cute. Silly girl. She usually does it when there is someone she doesn't know to well and if they are being overly friendly and she doesn't like it, then she will scrunch her nose. It's co cute!

Family Time

iPod

Lincoln loves singing and listening to music. Since I had an iPod that is dying and twitching in and out every now and then. So I figured we might as well not let it go to waste, so we loaded some kids songs on it.  He loves having his own iPod. He will sit and listen and sing to music for 30 minutes at a time. It's pretty funny to watch actually. :)

Sunday Evenings

Sunday evenings we like to go for a evening walks along the beach as a 

family. The ocean breeze is wonderful.

Lincoln couldn't resist playing in the sand. 

 Since Lacey started crawling at 8 months. She thinks she also thinks she needs to be holding your hands and walking ALL the time. She just wants to move like the rest of us.

 The sunsets here are gorgeous. 

Lacey is not afraid to get a little dirty too as she crawls. 

Lacey has a thing with holding her toe when she is being held or
 is in the stroller, we aren't too sure why. I just think its kinda funny.

Monster Birthday Party

Yesterday we had Lincoln's 3rd birthday! How is he 3? I mean, seriously?

 I feel like he was born yesterday. The party was a hit and Lincoln had an awesome time.

It's a Monster Mash Birthday Bash! 

Our little monster is turning 3!

For Lincoln's party he wanted a bouncy castle, and surprisingly enough they have

 them on Statia to rent.With our church group here we have been blessed to 

have a lot of younger kids (ages 2-4yrs old) that Lincoln has become friends with.

 He invited Lucy Bridge, Fay & Eden Farrell, Liam Tidmarsh and Eli & Krysten Sala.

For the birthday craft we painted conch shells we collected near harbour/dock. It was a big hit painting the shells. Lincoln also loved gathering the shells for all his friends prior to his party.

The kids waited so well, while it was getting set up.

We had the bouncy castle booked from 3-6pm. When we arrived at the park at 2:40, it wasn't there. So we called to make sure it was coming and it was.... It was just Statia style late. It was there and ready to go by 3:30. So we did the craft first while the castle was being put up.

The kids almost jumped continuously on the castle for 

the 3 hours it was up, other then periodic drink and supper breaks.

Lacey loves the swing at the park and all the girls love pushing her.  

She seemed to love being with all the GIRLS.

Birthday cupcakes! I'm soooo glad they turned out. baking/cooking is a bit different here since the ovens are propane gas powered. The oven temperature is in celsius. Converting the temperature from ferinhite to celsius doesn't work, along with the fact that the propane burns hotter then conventional natural gas.  So i asked to see what the other moms cooked things at and gave it a whirl.... and it worked. I'm so glad!

Present time! Lincoln got spoiled. He received moon dough set, water gun, crayons and a coloring book, play dough, a harmonica,  bubble gum and some candy! He was amazed at all his new toys and gifts.

The party was a success! We didn't get rained out. The bouncy castle showed up. The cupcakes turned out, and the kids had fun. It was a perfect party for our little man that we love so much. He had a blast!
