Miscarriage 2 Years Ago

We miss you everyday, but we know there's a day when we will hold you. We can't wait for the day when we can see you. Baby let sweet Jesus hold you until mom and dad can hold you. You just have heaven before we do... Can't believe it's been two years! I think about you each and every day and miss you a tone.

Fall Camping Trip

Nana and Papa Stewart invited us to go on a fall camping trip. We had so much fun! Lincoln, Lacey and Oliver loved every minute of it. We got pretty lucky with the weather, it was a beautiful weekend. Highlights from the weekend were finding bear foot prints on the road by the Stewart farm. Lincoln and Lacey wouldn't stop talking about bears.

2K Pumpkin Run

We had fun participating in the 'Run For The Pumpkin' 2K run. They were both pretty pumped that they got a pumpkin at the end of the race. This was Lacey first 2K run that she ran all by herself, the whole way. She did awesome, for only being 4 years old. This was Lincoln's second 2K run that he completed by himself. So proud of these two for their accomplishments. I love teaching them that they can do hard things.

They were pretty proud of themselves after.

Swimming Lessons

Lincoln and Lacey are in swimming lessons again. They are both loving it. This is Lacey first time not having mom in her swim lessons and she's doing great. I we talk before and exchange a long hug. I've told her if she misses me during her class she can smile at me and we can exchange sign language, I love you. She's sure a mommy's girl!

The Ultrasound That Changed Our Lives.

My life was changed a year ago today, when I received the diagnosis that our baby boy would be born with spina bifida. He was born with an opening in his spine that required surgery when he was only 1 day old. I have to admit, one year ago, our family was frightened to learn all of the complications that could happen with a child born with spina bifida. The doctors told us the hard cold facts, your kids going to have paralysis, clubfeet, loss of bladder and bowel control. It also can cause learning disabilities to mental retardation, and sometimes an enlarged or abnormal head size.

It’s much easier to create optimism once you’ve had, or come to know a child with spina bifida. Our doctors didn’t tell us that we were going to love our child unconditionally like your other children. That we will experience joy being his parents and having him apart of our family. That he’d have a smile that light up a whole room, be a social butterfly and that he’d be the happiest baby around.

I find myself documenting his life and learning that he was born perfectly made, despite the imperfections we once feared. I am humbled that the lord would trust us with Oliver. And I am humbled that he believes that we are strong enough to be the parents he needs.

Oliver 8 Months

It's still sometimes hard for me, seeing his peers who don't have Spina Bifida, crawling at 6 months or pulling to stand at 8 months. But then I have to remind my self that, LIFE IS GOOD! I mean REAL GOOD! Sure Oliver might do things differently then other kids his age but that doesn't stop him from being a social butterfly that brightens every ones day. He is silly and stubborn, and he is loud and defiant. He's a miracle baby. Although Spina Bifida makes our lives more interesting than most, I wouldn't trade him for the world.

Lacey's 4th Birthday Party!

I love having our friends birthday party on a different day then their actual birthday day.  Then they get to look forward to two special days. Lacey had a Paw Patrol party! We meet all our friends at Wear M Out where we played with our friends for two hours. Then we went back to our place for snacks, cake and to open presents.

I can say Lacey's party was a success from lace's response at the end of the day. Lacey said " I had the best party day ever." We had fun celebrating this special girl and the amazing four years we have had with her.

Lacey's FOUR

Lacey is full of spunk. She's feisty. She loves to sing. Be goofy, silly and make others laugh. She's a girly girl but isn't afraid to get dirty to have some fun. She's always up for an adventure and try something new. She's a girl who loves her snuggles. There's never a dull moment when Lacey's around. Happy 4th Birthday Lacey! I love you so much and love being your mom!

Lincoln's excited for Grade 1 and all the fun adventures he will have.

How did this day get here so fast?! Lincoln, you are all ready for school! You've got a new hair cut, you got a blessing from your dad and you have been anxiously waiting for this morning to come! I'm excited for you because I know how bad you want to go to school, but I am not ready for you to grow up! I can't help but wonder, have I done a good job so far, will you listen to your teacher, will you make new friends, be kinds to others, will you miss me? You're amazing kid and I know for a fact that you will do great things!! Good luck in Grade 1! I can't wait to hear all about it! Love mom!
