Oliver had a routine 2 year Sedation MRI yesterday! Josh took Oliver up for this appointment as it's easier for Josh to miss a day of school then me missing work. A sedation MRI was needed to take a good look at his ventricles to make sure his shunt is working like it should be, it also gave them a look at his spine to see if there was anything to worry about, MRI took 45 mins. Last time Oliver had an MRI this long was when I was pregnant with him. Since then he has only had fast head MRIs. Oliver doesn’t like the effects of sedation so he was very sensitive afterwards. Poor little man. He gets very upset and emotional and is very hard to settle down. after his MRI. He had to go to the Nuero clinic to get his shunt reset (as it often get unset during a MRI). Reseting the shunt usually is very simple two minute thing but we got lucky, if you could say that and the person doing it was still learning how to set shunts. So it was a very long process (40 mins). As Oliver was still upset, then someone he didn't know was getting too close to him for his liking to set his shunt. He had to sit still, which he didn't want to do, which made him more upset. Finally it was done and him and Josh headed home. Good thing for the movie 'Ben and Holly' and blanket, to help calm him done and make a easy trip home.... We will find out his results in his July Myelo clinic. As we aren't going back in a week for a ten minute appointment.
