AFO's

To be honest I had a mix of emotions when it came time for Oliver to get AFO's (Ankle Foot Orthotics). I was excited that Oliver was getting braces that would help his feet. He's feet curl down wards, so with wearing AFO's it will help stretch out his feet to prevent a need for surgeries in the future. The need for less surgeries is always better. I also felt nervous for Oliver to have AFO's too. As it's a physical appearance that makes him different then others. These nerves have already gone away. I know we are all different. Some people need to wear glasses, others need AFO's. The benefits of wearing AFO's out way, being physically different. I've also gotten use to talking about them. Especially with having a Day Home. Our Day Home friends at first asked often about the AFO's. It's cute to see how our Day Home friends know what these braces are at such a young age. Oliver is suppose to where them full time which is 6 hours a day. We try to do 3 hours in the morning, then have a break during his nap, then wearing them again for 3 more hours.  Oliver doesn't seem to mind them at all. Might have something to do with the little feeling he has in his legs and feet.

April 2017

Here's a little bit of what we have been up to lately in  crazy busy life!

Lacey and Lincoln love playing with boxes. It's cute to watch them play together and see where their imagination will take them.

Lacey loves to bake! She's getting to the age where she wants to do it all by her self. Soon I'll be able to get her to bake fore me.

Oliver helping daddy with the Laundry. Yes you read that right, 'helping daddy'. With me being a stay at home mom with three little ones and having a day home, working 50 hours a week. There are days when I don't get the house chores done. I have an amazing husband who will then come home from classes and studying all day to helping me.

Three clean kiddos ready for bed.

Oliver got a Zip Zac! Can't wait to see him figure it out.

My little tummy sleeper! This month has been pretty rough for him. He's teething like crazy with four teeth popping through and he has had two colds. It's hard to not worry about a shunt malfunction since a lot of the symptoms are the same. We want our happy little boy back!

When Lincoln comes home from school is is so ready for some down time and just play and be a kids.

When Oliver gets tired this is how he rests his head on the couch.

My happy little man enjoying some tummy time.

Lacey's all ready for crazy hair day!

711 Bring your own cup day! Kids thought of the cups to bring and had a fun time fillin em up!

Easter 2017

Why do we celebrate Easter?.... Easter is a holiday where we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. After Christ died on the cross,  Jesus Christ was resurrected and lives today with a glorified and perfected body of flesh and bone. Easter is a celebration not only of the Resurrection of Christ but also of the universal resurrection. Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, all people will be resurrected. Easter is a celebration of the promise of eternal life through Christ.

I love the tradition of dying Easter eggs! We dyed eggs two different ways this year. The first way is we Tie-Dying. This was the first time we have tried this way and it was a lot of fun.
Traditional way of dying eggs. Oliver enjoys being included with Lincoln and Lacey. It's was a fun activity to do together.

Surgery #3 Ear Tubes

Oliver has had a fluid build-up in his ears that wouldn't not go away. This made Oliver very sensitive to any sound. Anything from a cough, sneeze, or another child crying. When I say sensitive I mean he would cry. The Doctors also didn't want this fluid to affect hearing problems or speech delays. Oliver got ear tube put in to help allow the eardrum to equalize the pressure. Oliver was able to have the surgery in Lethbridge, this surgery seemed so easy compared to the other surgery Oliver has had. The surgery was a total of 10 mins and I was able to see Oliver in recovery after 30 mins. Once Oliver woke up from anesthetic, he was not a happy camper. He would just cry, didn't matter if I walked with him, rocked him, etc. The nurses had to monitor his vitals for the next 30 mins. Once that time was up and he was doing well, minus crying. They said we could go home if I were comfortable with it. I was so glad we had a short 7 min drive home. It was nice to be in our home where I could cuddle my baby and start the road to recovery. For the next few days Oliver was on Advil to help with a ear ache type of pain.

Spring Concert- Grade One

Lakeview Elementary school's 2017 spring concert, The Canada That We Love.
It's so fun as a parent seeing your child take part in this. Lincoln had fun taking part in his school concert with his Grade 1 class.

Lincoln's Basket Ball

Lincoln absolutely loved basketball this winter. I loved seeing how he would look forward to Saturday mornings and how excited he would get. Lincoln took the practises and games very seriously, he listen well to his coaches and always put 100% in.  I loved watching him each Saturday! He put a lot of hard work into each practise each week and it sure paid off. I loved seeing how much he learned about basketball and the improvements he made through out the season.
