Here's a closer look at Pinel Island that we have visited in the past.
Pinel Island is a little gem just a short boat ride off French Cul-de-sac (North east part of St Maarten) It's located in the heart of the Marine Park of St Martin. Regular ferrys leave the dock at cul-de-sac, you can also paddle to Pinel within 15mn with kayaks or stand up paddle boards near by the dock with Caribbean Paddling. They also offer kayak tours.
The main beach has two nice restaurants, each renting out beach chairs. Located on the far left side of the beach, Karibuni offers fantastic Caribbean cuisine in a relaxing atmosphere. Yellow Beach, located straight in front of the dock is known for its amazing BBQ and their Tiki huts.
The snorkel trail is on the far right side and is protected by the Marine Park.
Ferries leave the dock from the french Cul de Sac every 1/2 hour from 10am to 5pm with a cost of $10 seven days a week return trip, weather permuting.
Behind the main beach, you will find an untouched part of St Maarten. Follow the tiny trail and escape to the Northern side of Pinel Island. There, you will find a wild beach protected by a reef. Reminds me of Zeelandia Beach back in Statia. You can reach it with a kayak by going through the channel between Pinel Island and St Maarten
Washed up broken coral, Lincoln calls them ocean sticks.
Neat looking plant we found on the beach.
