This week was a bit slower then the week before. Which was nice but we still were quit busy, here is what we were up to.
For letter J we got Jelly Beans for a treat this week.
We've been hanging all of Lincoln's letter up on the wall in the dinning room. So we can see them through out the day and also so Lincoln can tell dad what we did each day with he's letters.
Laundry Time: Our washing machine is behind our house in a little shed. To me it's still different having doing your laundry outside. Here's my little laundry helper. She loves handing me the clothes pins as I'm hanging the clothes on the line. If she doesn't get pinched by them.
Our umbrella clothes line. I love it! Well not compared to a dryer but this clothes line will hold 4 loads of laundry so I can have all our laundry drying at the same time. With the weather warming up, you would think the clothes would dry faster, well they do kinda but no really. With the hotter temps means it gets more humid here. So when I think our clothes are dry, they still feel damp when I tae them inside. Some how it also like to rain on the days that I do laundry. Making the clothes take twice as long to dry.
Josh came home one day a bit early (45 mins) before supper so that we could see him and have some pool time with him. This week is the week before block exams, so Josh has been cramming to study as much as possible. So it's been a hard week with not seeing Josh much, so it was nice to have some fun time with daddy.
The kids were a bit excited that dad was coming home early.
Lacey is getting closer to being a big girl. She no longer has a soother at 18.5 months. Yay! Let me explain. So Lacey was only allowed to get her soother at bed time in her bed or at nap time in the day for quit awhile now. But she does this fussy whine in the day when she wants it and it drives me crazy when she whines for no reason other then to get her soother. I'm pretty good at getting her distracted when she wants it but there are times when I will just give in, just so she will stop whining. So on Tuesday morning we had only been up for an hour or so and she already has started whining for her soother. So I said fine you can have it. I ran down stairs to grab the scissors and cut the nipple of the soother and gave her her soother. I told her she can now have her soother when ever she wants it. She looked at it with confusion and said uh oh! I just tell her that her soother broke and she's a big girl and doesn't need to suck on it any more but she can hold onto it. For the first two days at nap time and bed time I would lay her down and rub her back to help her relax till she fell asleep. She never put up a fuss or cried, she would moun a bit and say "broke" or "uh oh!" Which I was surprised considering how strong willed Lacey is. Day 3, I was able to lay Lacey down and walk out of her room and she would put her self to sleep. She would take a few minutes more to settle down then normal (5-10mins). She still has the plastic part of the soother she likes to hold on to when she's falling asleep..... I'm so amazed at how well she did with this transition. I'm so proud of her. This wasn't even planed, I'm so glad we did it.
I loved the breeze that came off the ocean, reminded of the wind from back home.
Catamaran
I thought this boat was very interesting.
Lincoln and Lacey had fun watching a dog go for a swim off the Pier and they liked to play on the rocks.
We brought Lincoln's bike and Lacey's stroller and baby. It's nice to actually have smooth cement for the kids to just go as you can't find it often here. They played for two hours.
Krysten and Lincoln playing with Lacey's baby.
Here we are on a walk to the boat dock right by the University that we visit daily when we go see Josh. We visit Josh at school at least once a day. This is more what the roads are like here, bumpy and dirty.
Lincoln and Liam taking a break, waiting for Eli and Krysten to arrive at the boat docks.
Here's the Muscovy duck that we see at the boat dock each time we visit. He's been there for the last few weeks. I think he's been hanging out her because the boaters have been feeding him. When we arrive to the dock if we can't find him he is usually hanging out under the dock. The interesting thing out this bird is it doesn't quack or make any sound. When we approach this duck it will come up to you, wag its tails like a dog. Muscovy ducks particularly helpful with controlling mosquitos.
Our friends the Sala's ( Claire, Krysten and Eli) have adopted this little stray kitten. They found it in their complex where they live. They've been feeding it milk each day.
It's so tiny. The kitten is white in color with two different colored eyes, blue and another color. Not quit sure what color and I haven't got that close to look. It's cute but not that cute.
Just in this last month Lacey will now let me paint her nails. Before she would scream when I tried to paint her toes. I have to do a quick job as she doesn't sit still for long so they are far from perfect. But she loves them and mommy does too.
Sundays are the days when I miss family back home the most. As Sunday was the day that we usually sent time visiting with our parents and siblings. Our sundays here consist with going to church at 9am for 3 hours then home to lay Lacey down for a nap. Josh is then off to school to cram in some more studying. Sunday afternoons and evening always seem very long and lonely but I am grateful that I get to get to hang out with my two kidos and just take it easy. I miss family sundays.
Today was conference. With the time change we get conference at 12-2pm and again at 4-6pm. I find these times a bit difficult to watch conference. 12-2pm isn't too bad as Lacey is napping. So I was able to watch 3/4 of the Sunday morning conference with Lincoln while we played trains, then Lacey woke up. Today Lincoln, Lacey and I were all kinda bored of being in the house by then so we went for our 3rd walk of the day. At 3pm lets just say its HOT here, but we still ventured out. The next few picture are of the streets of cole bay where we live.
A local house on Wellington Road
Here's another Robbie lottery. You can find these lottery stores on every street and even a couple stores on each street. Lets just say they are every where.
Roads are usually in rough shape here and dirty. After our walk I looked like I as a cave women with how black my feet were.
Watch out for the holes in the road.
Houses here are usually built so the landlord lives in one of the apartments while the other apartments are rented out.
Here's another big hole in the road. I wouldn't want to loose my car in it. It's a good 3 foot drop with at least 2 feet of water at he bottom. No signs up warning you of this open hole on the road.
Health food grocery store, that looks very run down inside.
I've wanted to go check out the Pier in Marigot on the French side for a while and we finally went and checked it out this week. It was a big hit with the kids so we came here twice this week.
( in this picture above you can see Fort Louis right above the boats in the distance)
They had this big army boat docked at the Pier.
Back view of the boat.
I loved the breeze that came off the ocean, reminded of the wind from back home.
There were lots of different boats passing by.
Lacey loved watching.

Brought some bread to feed our duck.
I saw this cute little boat docked. I love the bright colors.

Lacey thinks it's pretty cute. She like trying to hold it with help.

Here's these beautiful yellow flowers, they are big 5-7 inches long.
I handed a flower to Lacey repeating flower to her and she said "flower" back to me for the first time.

Here's a picture to show you the ditches that run along a lot of the roads here.
After our walk were were HOT and ready to go back home. Time for some freezes!
