Coaldale Sprak Park

We love going to the Coadale Spray Park. We love that it's only a 10 minute drive from Nana's house. It has a spray park, water table, kids tot pool and a park. We have spent many hours there. Some days we pack our lunch and make a mini day trip out of it, since Lacey and Lincoln can play for hours there.

Lacey sure wasn't impressed with how cold the water was. But they still had fun even though they froze the whole time.

Magrath Days!

We were looking forward to Magrath Days since we missed the last two years. We had a great time watching the parade, enjoying lots of good food and spending time with family. We did the parade int he morning followed with glorified burger lunch at Aunt Heather and Uncle Vinces. Then later in the afternoon we watched 'Home' at Nana & Papa Harker's house in the theatre room. It was a fun filled day. We also woke Lincoln and Lacey up to watch fire works. They thought that was pretty neat.

Starting the day off right with free snow cones.

Caughting candy at the parade was a bit tricky since it was only day 4 of recovery from Lincoln's fracture. Lincoln took a little break from wearing his sling during the parade. Making it a bit easier to move around but he was ready to rest his arm after the parade.

Lincoln's Fracture

He was playing a chase/ tag game with the boys and they'd put each other in jail ( in the play house). One of the boys came for Lincoln and pushed him while trying to grab him. Lincoln fell and landed on his elbow.

When Lincoln came crying to me, I just figured he hurt his elbow real good and he'd be better in a bit, so we played him down in his bed with a ice pack and a movie. Lincoln is usually pretty tough boy and cries for a second then he's good to go. But after half an hour Lincoln was still in tears saying he really hurt. He had no interest his going to play with his friends. By this time it was 1:30, We figured it would be a good idea to go get his elbow checked as he wouldn't bend it for us. I called our doctor, they weren't able to get us in, but we were able to see another doctor for a 2:10 appointment. So we headed straight to the doctors office, we were lucky at the Dr. L saw Lincoln by 1:45. Dr. L noticed right away that Lincoln was favouring his right elbow quite a bit, he resisted any movement and was in a lot of pain. Dr. L was sure that it was at least a sprain, but maybe a fracture or break. He nurse then went to look at X -Ray, trying to get an appointment that same day or the next morning. Just as the nurse said our X -Ray appointment would be 11:00 am the next morning, our Doctor, Dr. David Stewart nurse approached us. She asked why we were there, and we filled her in with what was happening. She said 11:00 am X-Ray appointment wasn't good enough, so she took us back to her desk and did some calling. She was able to get us into the hospital by 2:15 for an Xray. I was so happy as Lincoln was still in a lot of pain. We headed straight to the hospital and they got us right in. Walking would just bring Lincoln to tears, so I tried carrying him to help it from hurting. After the X-ray we just had to wait to hear back from Dr. D Stewart to see what the results were. We were home by 2:45, got Lincoln all settle in his bed to take it easy. He watched a movie, had a snack, iced his arm, took some pain meds and took a nap. Lincoln said " I don't like today, I just want it to end." Dr. D Stewart's nurse said we should hear back from them by 5pm closing. At 4:50 we got the call and found out that Lincoln had a Lateral epicondyle fracture with multiple fragments on his right arm. They made special exception for Lincoln to come to walk-in that same night to get it splinted so that he would be in less pain and a bit more comfortable. We headed to walking-in at 6pm and got Lincoln all splinted up from Dr K. He got a fibre glass splint that he would have to wear for 3 weeks. Thanks to amazing doctors and nurses, Lincoln was well taken care and looked after fast. We headed home after walking-in and got Lincoln ready for bed. He had an amazing nights rest, which I was quite surprise as I was expecting him to wake up when the tylenol wore off in the night but he didn't.

Day.1. - Recovery consisted of pain meds, laying in bed watching movies, playing iPad games, cat naps and just taking it easy. Lincoln would get quit emotion every time the pain meds wore off.

Day.2. - Recovery consisted on taking it easy, but he was up to playing quietly with his friends for a bit then, resting in bed for a bit. Lincoln was still on Tylenol.

Day.3.-  It was amazing how Lincoln was doing by day three. Lincoln said " today is a way better day." He wasn't emotional and in pain, so we didn't give him any more tylenol. He was more into playing with his friends. It crazy how fast they bounce back.

Each day after that, he got better. Our Doctor wanted Lincoln to get X-Rays each week of rate next 3 weeks so he could watching to make sure his arm was healing properly.

Lincoln waiting to get a X-Ray at the hospital. He either has a good sprain or fracture/ brake.

This is Lincoln's second X-Ray. One week of recovery complete.

Lincolns got his X-Ray results back, he has a Lateral epicondyle fracture with multiple fragments. 3 week recovery with wearing a splint. This tired boy had been though a lot today.

Lincoln's first day of recovery consisted of movies and cat naps.
