2.5 year Meylo Clinic

All in all Myelo Clinic was good! It was a busy day with ultrasound, pelvic x-ray

 Urology said his kidneys are awesome, bladder is better than last time, no residual sediments. The urologist hasn’t seen spina bifida kidneys that nice for a while. The urology specialist said that he has a good chance of being able to have bowel control, Normally spina bifida at his level she says less than 10%, she thinks he has greater than 60% chance. So not guaranteed but a better chance than most

Nureo -Sedation MRI that Oliver had back in April, well we finally got the  results. Reason it took so long is we didn't want to make a trip to Calgary it they had no concerns for a 10 min appointment. They wouldn't give us the results on the phone, they would only say if it was urgent or if we could wait till myeo clinic. So we were able to wait till myeloma clinic and get the result now. Ventricles look good for brain size and age... meaning his shunt is doing what it's suppose to be doing.

Physio - wrote down some things for Audrey (our Lethbridge physio) for different exercises but he wasn’t worried about the frog legs. They liked the wheelchair said it’s perfect for what he’s at right now.They said he will get used to it more as his arms get a little longer

but we are STILL waiting on custom siting set custom.

They weren’t happy with his AFOs and want changes made. Easier said then done. We get he's AFO's made in Lethbridge. If we aren't happy with the centre in Lethbridge we might have to start going to Calgary for AFO's. Which i'd really like to avoid. Oliver's left pair are his new ones that we just got done two months ago. They aren't tall enough, as you can see that are as tall as his blue set he got when he was one. They want the ankle stamps to be lowered.... We have meet with the AFO's centre here and said the height right now is okay but if he grows then they will make new ones. Well they better as they need to last till he is 3.5 years old ( so another year) and we can't afford $3000 for a new set. So time will tell. 

Magrath Days 2018

We started Magrath Days with a 5K fun run.

Followed with free snow cones.

And the parade. I love watching how Lincoln and Lacey are so willing to help Oliver out.

After the parade we headed to Aunt Heather and Uncle Vince for a pot luck lunch. We enjoyed visiting with family.

Bird Of Prey Center

We haven't been able to go camping much this summer as Josh's practicum goes to 7pm on friday. So on our weekends we have been fun doing staycations and having fun exploring all the fun right here. Birds of Prey centre was a great time. The kids loved holding the birds and being able to get close to the birds. Lincoln loved that one of the bald eagles was named Lincoln after the USA president. They also had ducks you could feed around the pond.

Caodale Spray Park

I feel with Josh in school this summer and me working, we only have our evening free. So after supper we head out for some fun. The kids love visiting the Coadale spray park. It's accessible for Oliver! Plus Lincoln and Lacey love it too. So it's a win win for everyone.

Galt Garden Water Fountains

We are loving this hot summer we are having so we have visited the water foundations down town a few times. It's a great way to cool off and have some fun.

Accessible Park

I have always loved taking my kids to the park/playground. Since Oliver parks frustrate me. As majority of parks aren't accessible so it means Oliver can't play on them with all the other kids. If a park has a swing set that saves us big time, as I can either push him (if there is an infant swing) or swing with him (bit tricky but still doable). If there isn't a swing then parks can be very challenging and frustrating. I don't like to see him miss out on all the fun so Josh and I usually take turns hauling him up the park and going down the slide, which he loves. We switch on and off as carrying a 27 lbs. + toddler up a park can be very tiring. We try to go to the park when we both of us can go to make things easier. If parks have rubber flooring then he's usually just happy to roll around in his wheelchair. We have one park in Lethbridge the city we live, it that was made for this exact purpose of being accessible. We love this park tucked away on the west side. It has ramps that aren't too step so a child in a wheelchair can actually go up on their own.

8th Birthday Geocahing

We heard of this great idea from one of Lincoln's friends mom and I loved it. So we gave it a try with Lincoln's 8th birthday party. What it is, is your birthday child has two option. #1 they can have a traditional birthday party, invite friends, party and recieve gifts. Or #2 the parents give their birthday child $100 and they have friends play date, no gift. Lincoln choose #2, Yay! Thats what I wanted as I feel like kids these days don't need more toys. It was perfect Lincoln took his friends geocaching after school one day. They had so much fun together finding caching around south lethbridge.

Great Falls Camping KOA

Had a great week slowing life down and spending it with my family not too far from home. We tried out our first KOA campground in Great Falls Montana. This campground was just on the edge of town, so super close to everything you might need.

We were super impressed with our first KOA experience, so much fun things to do.

Lincoln, Lacey and Oliver loved the nightly hay rides.

Each night they also had live folks music to listen to.

The campground had a fun little pool/spray park, which was very nice since it was +30 the whole week. It was the perfect way to cool off each day.

We also visited the Great Falls outside pool. It had a lazy river that you could float down on with tubes or the little surf boards. Lincoln really enjoyed trying surfing. 

 Plus they had a warmer pool with waterslides. It was a long fun filled day in the sun.

We loved Gibson park! The reason we originally went to this park was b/c they were suppose to have an accessible park. I can't say it was very accessible... But right beside the park they had this pond that you could feed the birds. It was a big hit.

Everyone enjoyed feeding the geese and ducks.

We spent a few hours here, and it sure didn't feel like that.

Sonic was a big hit for one of the American restaurants we tried. We loved the cherry limeades.

Happy Canada Day!

Happy July 4th!

Our week in the states was during July 1st and 4th, so the campground did fireworks both nights. It was also nice they did them at 10pm so the kids could stay up and enjoy them.

Our last night camping Nana & Papa Harker and Aunt Sara camp to visit. They stayed in one of the log cabins.
