August 2016

We love summer and are sad to see it coming to a end so soon. We wish it was summer ever day. We love spending each day outside and all the fun summer adventures we have.

Lincoln caught a large dragon fly.

Oliver enjoying a stoller ride to the park.

Beach Day! We are trying to enjoy ever last bit of summer that we can.

Lacey told us that she was ready to ride a two wheeler. Well she was right! #threeyearsold

We've had fun this summer checking out a new park each week mourned town.

The alien/space park was another one of our favourite parks we found this summer. Can't wait to find more fun parks.

Daisy May Campground

We have heard about Daisy May Campground (Fort Macleod) from many friends that it's a great campground plus it's only 30 minutes away. We thought we better go check it out for our selves. It's the perfect campground for families with children. There is so much to do: mini-golfing, playing at the park, swimming at the pool, nature walks to the river and getting ice cream from the little store. Lincoln and Lacey loved it and we will for sure be going back to camp there next year.

Coaldale Spray Park

We love summer and the heat that comes with it, even though I wish it to be warm at times. I love being out side a tone each day and take every opportunity to be out side if we can.

Josh has wanted to do a few things to our garage so he took a Saturday  to do just that. He started drywalling is so it will be ready soon for cupbaords. He excited to have a place to work on his truck and what not.

So while Josh worked on the garage we went to the Coaldale Spray Park for some fun. We love the spray park in Coaldale as it has a spray park, water table, little tot pool and a park. It's perfect for the kids and they have so much fun there.

Bulge Update

It's been four weeks since Oliver's shunt surgery. It's been two weeks since we went to the ER for Oliver's bugle where the incision is just above his shunt. The last few days we have noticed that the bugle has gotten a bit bigger. And only sometimes goes down when he's elevated. So I feel more concerned... I called the Alberta children's hospital to see if we could see a nuerosugeron today on our way back from our summer holidays. No such luck but I was able to talk to one of Oliver's nuerosugeron on the phone, he reassured me that what's happening can be common. The hole that they drilled into Oliver's scull for the shunt tubbing to go through is a bit bigger then the tube it's self. With this the CSF spilling near the shunt creating this bugle. Dr Riva- Cambrin said we need to be  very religious a keeping Oliver at 45'  degrees in his crib ( mattress inclined like a hospital bed), in a bouncy chair, car seat, etc. As the bugle can fill up in 20 minutes when laying horizontal. If we keep him inclined his body should be able to absorb this extra CSF that's leaking in 3-4 days. Then his body will be able to fuse the scull hole to the shunt tubbing. This can take up to 6 weeks. Once the scull fuses we should not have this problem again. I hate watching and waiting but that's what we have to do so I'm trying to not stress to much. But it's so hard and I worry.

Cardston Heritage Days

Friday night after Josh was done work we headed to Cardston for Heritage days and to stay at Papa & Nana Stewart's place in our tent trailer.
On saturday we watched the Cardston parade followed with swimming at the Cardston pool. Both were a bit hit. Lincoln loved the lazy river at the pool.  Lincoln and Lacey also loved Papa and Nana Stewart's huge garden that they could run to a snack when ever they were needing a snack. We had a fun jammed pack week off.

Wally's Beach

Friday Josh had to work. We decided to hit the beach. Since I didn't have to be stuck at home, as my day home was closed till Monday. It was suppose to be a hot one, so we packed lunch and went to Wally's. This is the closet we get to the Caribbean when living in Southern Alberta. Wally's beach was amazing and after 5 hours in the heat, Oliver was done.

My Beach baby!

Summer Holidays- Edmonton

We had an amazing summer holidays. This year we went camping in Edmonton to Rainbow valley campground. I was actually dreading the 5 hour drive to Edmonton with three kids. Josh had to talk me into it and convince me that it would be just fine. And he was right all was just fine.

We've stayed at the Rainbow Valley campground two times before. It's in a valley, kinda like the river bottom in Lethbridge. The valley is very treed so it doesn't feel like your in the city. Plus your 10 minutes away from West Edmonton Mall.

Saturday- We left nice and early at 6 am, with a half way stop in Balzac for breakfast. Then finished the second half of the drive, arriving in Edmonton by 11:30am. The kids were amazin traveling a they really surprised me. It was so nice to arrive a a decent time and still have a good chunk of the day left.

Sunday-we hit the water park for 8 hours. Lincoln and Lacey loved everything about the water park and just wanted to keeping doing all day long. Lincoln didn't even want to stop to eat but I made him. Lacey was a big fan of the waves. One of the waved tipped her over. She comes up from being under that water and said " is that all the power you got". Lacey cracks us up. We loved all the water side. Oliver was even able to go on a few. We had some pretty tired kids when we arrived back at camp that night.

Monday- We explored  the valley in which Rainbow valley campground is located and went on a hike. It was fun exploring.

In the afternoon we went to the under water cavern and the seal lion show.

Tuesday- We hit the outlets and did some shopping in the morning. In the afternoon we went on a drive to check out the city a bit more. On our drive we saw some fountains from the road and decided to stop. Turned into a whole afternoon of fun at the legislature building in down town Edmonton.

Wednesday- Nana and uncle Logan headed home, we went to galaxy land. Which Lacey and Lincoln were huge fans of. Ride after ride!

Thursday- Was the end of our camping summer holiday and we so weren't ready to go home yet. We left around 8am and a mid was stop in Balzac again. We actually had to make a detour to downtown Calgary to pick up uncle Logan as he had no way back to the Lethbridge as the plans that he had fell through. When we called up to our house Lacey said I don't wanted to be home. We all had to much fun. That evening we did a quick unpack/ repack so we would be ready to head to Cardston on Friday.
